I came to the North Carolina
Mountains in 1966 to obtain a
Master’s Degree from Appalachian
State University. During the 41
years since that decision I have
developed a love for the
mountains and the people here.
My children were raised in this
wonderful community, and I have
always been grateful that my
choice, those many years ago,
was a sound investment in all of
our lives.
My knowledge of home
construction and quality
materials used in home
construction began soon after my
move to the mountains with my
family. I was involved in the
sale of building supplies and
came to know many of the local
builders through this
association. I think this
knowledge is an added strength
when helping buyers find sound
homes and also in helping
sellers set a favorable price
for their homes.
I am people oriented and a good
listener. I am willing to go the
extra mile to have a
satisfactory outcome. I want to
match the home buyers with the
perfect home for their needs. I
am a strong advocate on behalf
of sellers finding suitable
buyers for their properties.

I found paradise, right here in
Boone, NC! Having been brought
up in Buffalo, NY and then
trying Florida and Maryland, I
finally found what I have always
wanted, a place where I can
enjoy the rough surroundings of
the mountains, a place with a
laid back culture and friendly
people. I found a place that I
could call home; a place where I
could grow old and love life.
Hi, I’m Chris Perry, and I
changed my whole life after I
discovered Boone.
I left a carrier job with a
multi-national restaurant chain
that most would have said, I had
it pretty good; you know,
benefits, paid vacation, and 401
k. But that stuff just was not
good enough. I wanted to live
life where I woke up every day
and smiled and thought, I made
it! I made it, not by wealth but
by being able to live where I
want and to do the things I like
to do. I still need to make my
own family but that will come in
time. I am fortunate enough to
have some of my nuclear family
living near by.
I love the sport of white water
kayaking. When I’m not showing a
house or following up with a
home inspection, I like to take
my kayak to the Watauga River
and practice my kayak rolls or
maybe just take a walk on one of
the many hiking trails around
here.
I did come out of the
hospitality business with some
good benefits. It taught me
“customer service”. To listen to
your client’s unique needs first
and then assist them any way
possible. To make myself
available to answer questions or
to follow up a transaction!
Whether you are buying or
selling a house, it is nice to
have someone there that is
working for you. Helping you in
any way they can. Someone that
you can depend on! That’s me, I
pride myself with the fact that
I am a bit of a perfectionist, I
have to see things all the way
though.
I like to think that by the time
we reach closing, we have become
friends, someone that you could
call on later, and feel
comfortable asking if I wanted
to get-together and do
something.

In 2000 we fulfilled a dream to
live in the mountains. Wayne
owned a retail optical business
for 25 years, specializing in
the art of creating artificial
eyes for patients who through
accident, birth defect or
disease had lost an eye. Carolyn
worked in the dental field for
15 years but had also taught
microwave cooking and had a live
microwave cooking show on TV
with a friend. She had also
dabbled in catering and did some
quantity cooking at their
church’s 500 acre campground.
After their 3 children grew up
and moved away, they decided to
move away too… to the mountains.
Having both been in business of
service and being so excited
about living in the mountains;
it seemed natural to do a jump
shift in careers. We became
realtors and have loved helping
people find their dream
property, be it a log cabin,
condo, lot, acreage or
investment property.

I
am a cum laude graduate of
Appalachian State University’s
Industrial Technology Program. I
majored in Appropriate
Technology and focused on
Sustainable Building, Solar,
Wind and Hydro electric
technology and Sustainable
Development. I enjoy sharing the
information I learned in college
to help educate people on the
benefits of Appropriate
Technologies. While in college,
I also studied construction,
wood working, welding, plumbing,
HVAC, electrical, and drafting.
